Gwendolen Diary extract

Dear Diary, 


Today i witnessed the be perhaps the best day of my life.My dreams of marrying someone called Ernest are coming true , I am marrying someone called Ernest.Can you believe it?It all commenced when Mr Worthing started to talk the weather, which made me feel nervous as whenever people talk to me about the weather ,I always feel quite certain that they mean something else.I started to feel nervous.I told Mr Worthing to take advantage of Mamma's temporary absence and i advised him to do so.Oh dear diary, i am sure you are aware as much as me of Mamma's way of coming back suddently into a room that i discussed with her at numerous times.But suddenly he declared his love to me and asked me if i loved him.The only response i could give was 'Passionately'.


For an eccentric reason,my own Ernest asked me if I would still love him if his name was not Ernest.But i told him Ernest produces vibrations.It is such a divine name.The only safe name is Ernest!Silly Ernest he forgot to propose me.I told him quite frankly that i was fully determined to accept my own Ernest.


Mamma entered and disturbed our privacy by saying that Papa and her will decide who I will be engaged to.I reproached her but mamma instructed me to get in the carriage.The old fashioned respect for the young is fast dying out.


My dear diary help me , my eternal love for the name Ernest is much frankly immense.Mamma needs to understand that this name is divine!
